Kenneth C. McDonald

-- — Mr. Kenneth C. McDonald, 61, passed away on Sat. March 23, 2013 at Shands the University of Florida Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.

 Mr. Kenneth Cromer McDonald was born to the late James F. McDonald and the late MaeLean Griffin McDonald on June 18, 1951.  As a young child, he joined Rocky Mt. Zuma AME Church (now Rocky Mt. Zion) and remained there until the Lord called him home.

During his faithful membership at Rocky Mt. Zion AME, Kenneth served as a steward, trustee, member of finance committee and as chairman of Men’s Day Program.  He was also a member of the Walnut Hill Lodge No. 313 in Quitman, Georgia.

He was educated in the Brooks County School system and graduated from Washington Street High School.  He attended Valdosta Technical School where he finished Welding School and was then employed as a welder.  In 1984, he married Thelma E. Stroud.

Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, Thelma E. McDonald; two sons, Eric Bryant (Tracy) and Marcus Stroud; a sister, Fannie McDonald; niece, Lisa Grant (Randall); four aunts, Juanita Morrison, Doris Hooper, Wilo Thomas (Fred), Exie Thomas (Willie); two uncles, O.B. Griffin and Burton Griffin (Emma); mother-in-law, Thelma Ivery; sister-in-laws, Sandra Ivery, Tangela Ivery and Lynda Brinson; one sister-in-law, Patricia Ivery preceded him in death; brother-in-laws, Lyndell Jones and Terrance Jones (Angela) and also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 12:00 P.M. at the Rocky Mt. Zion AME Church in Barney, Georgia with Pastor Marshall Ingram officiating.  Burial will follow in the North End Cemetery in Quitman, Georgia.  Public viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2013 between the hours of 12:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. at the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home in Quitman.  — Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home
