Julia Mae Davis, 75, left this life on Monday, May 13, 2013, at 9:40 p.m., at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on September 20, 1937 in Valdosta, to the late Mr. George Davis, Sr., and the late Mrs. Cora Lee Hall-Davis.
She attended the Valdosta School System and graduated in 1956, confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age by Rev. Samuel Lewis. She was kind, meek, a very pleasing personality and a dedicated loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, George Davis, Jr., Willie, Artis B., Leroy and John Davis, and sister, Mamie Harris.
She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Belinda Davis (Stephen) of Alexander, Va. Glenda Gaskin (Retired Major Charles) of Edwards, MS and Brenda Tisdale of Valdosta, three sons, Ralph Davis of Spokane, Wash., Derek Davis of Valdosta, and Reginald Register (Ann) of Charleston, S.C., one loving sister, Ruby Sallet of Richmond, Va., one brother, Hercules Davis of Valdosta, a special cousin Mamie Bell of Toledo, OH; her precious grandchildren, Harold Tisdale, Jr. (Whitney future granddaughter in law) and Brandon Tisdale both of Covington, Ga., Coretta Ponder of Atlanta, Roger Ponder of Augusta, Ga., Kevin Ponder of Valdosta, Robert Davis, Yauve Tharp, Xavia Kane, Margret Kane all of Spokane, Wash., Sierra Register, Mar’jan Moment, Jade Register all of Charleston, S.C., Elijah Jenkins of Orlando, Fla., and Alfonso Moore of Valdosta, nineteen great grandchildren, four adopted children, Chesley McClarey of Valdosta, Conrad Hunter and Roetha Hunter both of NC and Frederick Green, Jr. of Valdosta, five devoted friends, Geraldine Day, David and Margaret Bell, Helen Lang Graham and Nathaniel McClarey all of Valdosta, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Dr. Charles E. Vinson, Sr. pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
