Mr. Zollie Watson, 83, a lifelong resident of Cook County passed from this life March 14, 2014 at 8:35 p.m. with his family at his bedside. He was the son of the late James David Watson, Sr. and Ella Taylor Watson.
He attended school in Cook County and he served with pride and honor in the United States Army with the 3rd Armored Division in Germany in 1956 and 1957. He was employed with Talley Corbett Box Co. for over 50 years. At the time of his retirement he was foreman of the box plant.
Zollie was a member of Community Calvary Holiness Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was dedicated to God and dedicated to his church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Etta Mae and Riley Taylor; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Raymond Cason; infant sister Hazel Watson; brother-in-laws, Herman Murphy and Gerd Beyer and sister-in-law, Myrna Watson.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Emily Overstreet Watson. His memory will be treasured by daughters, Renae Cassity and husband Daniel Cassity and Rena Watson. Also by two precious grandchildren, Jonathan Cassity and Dori Watson all of Adel. He is also survived by two brothers: Billy Joe Watson of Moultrie, James Watson of Sparks, three sisters: Frances Murphy of Ocilla, Fay Beyer of Lakeland, Fla.; Elaine Taylor of Adel and sister-in-law, Joyce Overstreet of Vidalia, Ga.. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
A Celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m., Mon. March 17, 2014 at the Community Calvary Holiness Church with Rev. Billy Joe Watson, Rev. Neil Bridges and Rev. Archie Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave. Adel, Ga.
