Mary Cofield, 81, of Sparks, Ga., passed away March 10, 2014, at the Cook Senior Living Center. Mrs. Cofield was born July 22, 1932, in Douglas, Ga., to the late Warren and Ethel Chaney Sapp. She was the widow of the late William Cleveland Cofield. She lived most of her life in Cook County, was a retired sales clerk with King Frog Clothing, and she was of the Christian faith.
She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Ahlene Browning, Donna and Jerry Edwards, and Barbara Zglinicki, all of Adel, Ga.; six grandchildren, Douglas and Kim Griner of Valdosta, Jason and Jennifer Griner of Adel, Jennifer Dove of Valdosta, Cleve and Allison Edwards of Adel, Tiffany Pezent of Lawrenceville, and Mance Zglinicki of Adel; nine great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward “Buddy” Chaney of Blackshear; three sisters, Deene Butler of Warner Robins, Dessie Mae Stokes of Douglas and Myrtle Burris of Waycross; a special friend, Barbara Scruggs; and Princess, her special companion.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Emory Chaney and Terrell Sapp; and one sister, Lois Vickers.
Funeral service will be held today, March 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home with the Rev. William Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Sparks City Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave.; Adel.
