Cecil A. Alcorn, of Valdosta, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Lakehaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born on April 24, 1924, in Old Hickory, Tenn., to Monroe and Mattie (Elrod) Alcorn. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a salesman for Gatewood Sales Company. He was a Baptist by faith.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and six brothers.
His survivors include his wife, Helen Smith Alcorn of Valdosta; three daughters, Gail and Jimmy Dudley of White, Ga., Erika and Kent Parks of Plano, Texas, Sylvia and Bert Crowe of Tifton; two sons, Gerald and Linda Alcorn of Jonesboro, Ga.; Tony Alcorn of Valdosta; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Stephenson of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters-in-law, Jean Gates of Fort Pierce, Fla.; Naomi Overby of Duluth, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens.
