Troy Jerome Griffin Crosby

-- — Mrs. Troy Jerome Griffin Crosby, 95, of Adel, Ga., passed away on Sunday June 30,2013 at Langdale Place in Valdosta, Ga.   Born in Cook County January 9,1918, she had resided there until moving to Langdale Place in 2006.   She was the daughter of the late Nathaniel Augustus Griffin and the late Troy Swann Griffin.  Mrs. Crosby was a homemaker and a seamstress by profession.  A member of Antioch Methodist Church for 74 years, she served as Sunday school teacher, youth director, UMW leader, and was presented a lifetime membership in the United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Crosby is survived by a daughter, Sandra Crosby Odom of Dudley, Ga., and a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Raymond Derry Crosby and Annette Crosby of Valdosta, Ga.  She has five grandchildren: Cecilia Carter (Charlie) of Dublin, Ga.; Chuck Odom (Donna) of Dudley, Ga.; Courtney Crosby McCrary (Ryan) of Greenville, S.C.; Justin Crosby (Kelly) of Cupertino, Calif.; and Cara Crosby Bell (Jack) of Warner Robins, Ga.   She is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Cody Odom and Logan Odom of Dudley, Ga.; Callie Rae Carter of Dublin, Ga.; Jack Crosby and Caroline Crosby, Cupertino, Calif.  She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Christine and George Cages of Stockbridge, Ga.  Mrs. Crosby was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Raymond Camp Crosby. Also preceding her in death were her siblings Zelma Rentz, Elizabeth Martin, and Nathaniel Griffin, Jr.

Mrs. Crosby leaves to cherish loving memories not only her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, but also a number of nieces and nephews.  

Mrs. Crosby had a quick wit, a desire to see everyone succeed, a helper wherever and whenever she was needed. She enjoyed doing for others and sharing the bounty of her garden.

The family will receive friends from 6  to 8 PM  on Monday evening July 1, 2013, at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., in Adel, Ga.  Funeral services will be held at  Antioch United Methodist Church, 2089 Antioch Road, in Adel, Ga., at 11 AM on Tuesday  July 2, 2013 with Rev. Jason Dickerson and Rev. Randy Moseley officiating.  Interment will follow in the Antioch Church Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made payable to the Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery Fund (c/o Bill Barton 6783 Old Union Road, Adel, Ga., 31620).  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at — Boone Funeral Home.
