Vivian Louise Mitchell

-- — Vivian Louise Mitchell was born on Sept. 23, 1949 to the late Robert, “Bob” Mitchell and Louise Mathis Mitchell in Valdosta. She was educated in the Valdosta City Schools system. Vivian accepted the Lord as  her personal Savior at Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as an usher.

Vivian was happily married to Kenneth Hallback of Valdosta. Kenneth was the joy of her life and a true help meet that stood my her side taking care of her every need until to the end.

Vivian was preceded in death by both of her parents, Bob and Louise Mitchell and two sisters, Mollie Mathis Wallace and Doretha Mathis Nelson. She was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Irene Hamilton.

Sheer courage is what was shown as Vivian endured her last days. Surrounded by her family, Vivian peacefully passed away, on Monday, April 15, 2013 at her residence. A warm smile, an humble spirit, and a love for people all describe this gift that was given by the Lord 63 years ago. The joy of her life was her family and her friends.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Tina Mitchell Hodge (Jimmie) of Valdosta and Barbara Mitchell (Cliff), Adairsville, Ga.; one loving sister, Bobbie Jean Williams, Valdosta; four grandchildren, Jocelin Hodge Freeman (Robert), Millicent Hodge, and Wesley Hodge of Valdosta and Deniek Mitchell, Abeline, Texas. She also leaves two beautiful great-grandchildren, Josiah Hodge-Freeman and Jordyn Freeman of Valdosta.

Vivian also leaves a host of special nieces and nephews that she was like a second mom to, Terrance (Terry) Williams, Texarkana, Alaska, Robert Williams, Dorothy Williams, Glenda Williams-Stance, Darlene Williams, and Reggie Williams, all of Valdosta; and  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Vivian also leaves a special friend and sister-in-law, Ms. Marie Young of Valdosta.

Homegoing celebrations will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Christian Love Bible Baptist Church. Pastor J. Bernard Braswell is the Pastor and Pastor Charles Day will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. — Harrington Funeral Home.
