The Valdosta Daily Times
Evelyn Borelli died in Los Angeles, Calif. on Dec. 14 2011 she was 93 years old. She was the daughter of Henry Gordon Mathis and Islia Haviland O’neal Mathis, the sister of John Thomas Mathis and Harvey Griffin Mathis. She was married to John Anthony Borelli; they found each other in Valdosta, Ga. during WWII while he was stationed at Moody Field Air Force Base. They blended together as only opposites can and enjoyed 53 loving years until his death on May 28th 1998. She hoped he was waiting for her in the beyond and I suspect he was. She was a mother, a wife a daughter, and a sister; but most of all, she was a very proud southerner who loved her heritage and her ancestors. She was a long standing member of The Daughters Of The American Revolution. Mary Haviland Borelli her eldest daughter passed away in Dec. 1995.
Her surviving daughter, Laura Andrews and Christopher John Andrews her grandson will bring her home and lay her to rest at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in Cat Creek Cemetery, 5337 Cat Creek Road, Valdosta, Ga.
