Claude Hoyt Tedder

-- — Mr. Claude Hoyt Tedder, 88 passed away on October 3, 2013, at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman.  He was born June 11, 1925, in Waycross to the late Claude Putnam and Vera West Tedder.  Mr. Tedder, as a young man, lived and farmed in Brooks County near Pavo.  He had lived in Valdosta and worked for Independent Life Insurance Co. for many years before moving to Raleigh, N. C.,  where he continued to work in sales.  In his older years he worked as a security guard at the hospital there.  He was among the FFA students who worked on and built the Community Center in Barwick, Ga., back when he was a student there in high school.  Mr. Tedder first joined Pauline Baptist Church as a young man and was baptized in Little River.  He later moved his membership to Pyle Baptist Church in Valdosta.  While living in Raleigh, N.C., he moved his membership to a Baptist church there.

Survivors include his children, Mary Ann and Franklin Cason of Dixie, Claude Daniel and Donna Tedder of Middlesex, N.C., and Judy Lynn Green of Middlesex, N.C.; ten grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter; three sisters and brothers in law, Ruby Dell Eatman of Quitman, Patricia and Alvin Carlton of Moultrie, and Carolyn and Johnny Greene of Quitman; one brother and sister in law, Fred and Ann Tedder of Macon; numerous nieces and nephews who fondly called him Uncle Hoyt; and sister in law, Ruth Tedder of Pavo.  Mr. Tedder was preceded in death by his first wife,Odell Asbell Shawley, and his wife Paty Tedder; four brothers, Max, Aubrey, George B. (GB) and Carroll Tedder; two sisters, Jessie Hardy and Dorothy Tedder; one grandson, Andrew Brian Cason.
