Pastor Michael Glenn Adams, 60, of Moultrie, and formerly of Mitchell County, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Park Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church in Valdosta, with Pastor Steve Rose and Pastor Harold Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens in Moultrie.
Casketbearers will be Michael Barnes, L.R. Hasty, David Warburg, Don Devlin, Greg Harper and Dan Williams. The Elders of Park Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church will serve as honorary casketbearers.
Born Dec. 30, 1952 in Moultrie, he was the son of A.M. “Buck” Adams of Sale City and the late Betty Jean Duncan Adams. He was a retired Civil Engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation with 32 years of service, and was the Pastor of Park Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church. “He was the spiritual leader of our family,” his family said. “He was an avid Disney World fan and visited there well over 20 times, loved playing games, sharing stories and enjoying every moment with his family.”
Survivors include his wife, Tammie Irene Lyons Adams of Moultrie; two sons, Matthew Gordon and Paxton Gordon, both of Moultrie; three daughters, Caraline Gordon of Moultrie, Katie Williams and husband Tim of Newton, Ga. and Leah Adams of Birmingham, Ala.; his father, A.M. “Buck” Adams of Sale City; one brother, Scott Adams of Richland, Ga.; one sister, Chan Bell and husband James of Sale City; three grandchildren, Cole Williams, Kamryn Williams and Carson Williams.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening, July 30, 2013 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
