-- — Carolyn Bruce Spell, 69, of Quitman, passed away Thursday Feb. 20, 2014 at the Presbyterian Home after a lengthy illness.

Born in Moultrie, Ga., she was the daughter of Robert Sam and Agnes Gertrude Beek Bruce, Sr. She was a homemaker and member of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her son,  Leon “Bubba” (Sandy) Spell, Jr. of Crawfordville, Fla.; two grandchildren; Stevie Spell, Fontana Spell Smith; two great-grandchildren, son-in-law, Craig (Jackie) Ellis of Quitman; two brothers; Robert S. (Tempy) Bruce, Jr. of Boston, Alan (Joni) Bruce of Warner Robins, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother; James Albert Bruce, sister; Faye Bruce Edmondson and her daughter; Pam Ellis.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. at Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Welcome Hill Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6-8 p.m.
