Mr. J.H. Parrish, 93 of Adel, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at Berrien Nursing Center. Mr. Parrish was born May 26, 1920 to the late Julian H. Parrish, I and Manie Walsh Parrish.
He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Adel Presbyterian Church. Mr. Parrish was owner of the Dairy Queen in Adel from 1955 to 1981.
Survivors include his three sons and daughters-in-law, Julian and Jackie Parrish of Adel, John Parrish and special friend, Norma Bell of Adel, and Andy and Vicki Parrish of Adel; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Knutson, Jonathan Parrish, Michael Ray, Tran Baker, James Ray, Elizabeth Fineberg, Kim Scott, Dillon Bell, Leslie Guy, Andrew Parrish, and Kellie Powell; eight great-grandchildren, Riley Knutson, Jade Baker, Landon Ray, Alley Anna Fineberg, Kourtney Fineberg, Kaley Scott, Truett Guy, and Andrew Parrish. Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Parrish; one brother, June Jack Parrish; two sisters, Marie Ray, and Dessie Williams.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Purvis Funeral Home with the Rev. Dillard Ensley officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn City Cemetery with military rites.
