Scot Gardner “Woody”, 43, of Naylor, Ga., passed away at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Ga., Feb. 8, 2014 after brief illness. He was born May 1, 1970 in Richmond, Ind. to Larry W. and Cheryl (Fulton) Gardner. He worked at PCA Paper mill after serving four years in the United States Marine Corp in Desert Storm. He enjoyed being a marathon runner along with his love for animals and horses. He is preceded in death by a son, Ricky McBride, maternal grandparents, Malcolm and Melba Ann Fulton and, paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Betty Gardner.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Christy Gardner of Naylor; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Renee McBride, Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Brandi and Trevor Steffen, St. Augustine, Fla.; parents, Larry and Cheryl Gardner, Fountain City, Ind.; grandsons, Kaden, Kohlby; granddaughters, Khaeli, Alyssa, and Kembrie; sister, brother-in-law, Deanna and Chris Forrest, Fountain City, Ind.; brother and sister-in-law, Daryl and Nanette Gardner, Williamsburg, Ind.; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Kim Gardner, Williamsburg, Ind.; several nieces and nephews and extended close friends.
A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 in the chapel of Music Funeral Services Lakeland, Ga., with family receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
