George ‘Adron’ Day

VALDOSTA — George “Adron” Day, 88, of Valdosta, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Jan. 13, 1926, in Coffee County, Ga., to George Henderson and Anna Mae (Jackson) Day. He was the owner of Day Construction Company and a member of the Abundant Life Church of God. His greatest joy was ministering for Christ through song with his gospel group, “The Adron Day Family.”

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two of his brothers, the Rev. Edward Day and Aubrey Day; by two of his sisters, Willene Graham, Joann Renew; by a daughter, Anna Christine Day; by a granddaughter, April Dawn Gaddy; and by a special nephew, Kenneth Rampey.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Pauline Day of Valdosta; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Elaine Day of Valdosta; David and Ramona Day of Valdosta, Daniel Day and C.C. Nardone of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Sue and Bennie Gaddy of Barney; sons, Darrell Day of Valdosta, Stephen Day of Valdosta, Brian Day of Valdosta; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brothers, James Day and Leroy Day; sisters, Delores Wooten and Betty Carol Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Abundant Life Church of God with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to Kasey Colson (229-249-4180) in care of the George Adron Day Family at BB&T located at 2901 A N. Ashley St., Valdosta, GA 31602.
