VALDOSTA — A Time to be Born

Larry Thomas was born to John Aaron Thomas and Alberta Mitchell Thomas–Irvin on April 5, 1959.

A Time to Plan

The vine of his life was rooted in Valdosta, Ga.

(Lowndes County), where he grew up. His fellowship with Christ began at an early age where he later became a dedicated member at Universal Deliverance Church and trained to be an usher.

A Time to Learn

Larry was educated in the public schools of Lowndes County and was a graduate of Lowndes High School. After high school, Larry attained the knowledge of car detailing. After 30 years of working in the detailing auto business, and taking pride in his work, Larry opened his own business, Thomas Auto Care. Later, it was with great pleasure that he passed on this trade to his son.

A Time to Laugh

The joys and pleasures of his life included his beloved wife, his son, his mother, his step-father, his brothers and sisters and their families, Godson and Goddaughter, church members, and a host of special friends. There was never a dull moment when you were in Larry’s presence. He would bring laughter to any situation.

A Time to Love

Larry cleaved to his God and the love of his life, Wanda LaFaye James, who he was united to in holy matrimony June 14, 2002.

A Time to Build Up

Larry was gifted with many talents. He touched the lives of many during his life and was loved and respected by all who knew him. God blessed him to be able to encourage, support, and uplift those in their time of need.

A Time to Die

The final call from God to come home was received and answered by Larry on June 30, 2014.  He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Thomas, his sister, Beverlyn Maria Thomas, a brother, John Wesley Thomas (Peewee).

A Time of Peace

The legacy of his life’s season is left to a devoted wife, Wanda LaFaye Thomas, one son, Larry Thomas II of Valdosta, Ga., his mother, Alberta Irvin (Richard) of Valdosta, Ga., sisters,  Clemmie Jean Sams of Valdosta, Ga., Barbara Carter ( Marcellous) of Hahira, Ga., and Alma Yusuff of Lawrenceville, Ga. Brothers, Jimmy Thomas (Essie Grace), Jack Thomas (Laverne), Paul Thomas, (Darlene) and Billy Wayne Thomas (Pandora) all of Valdosta, Ga. He leaves a void that cannot be filled; he leaves a legacy of love, generosity and unselfishness for us to exemplify. Out of all the roses in the garden, God picked our best, our own, Larry .
