Wilma J. Mikell, 91, of Laurel Hill, Fla., and formerly of Ray City, Ga., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at Shoal Creek Nursing Home in Crestview, Fla. She was born in Ray City on April 3, 1922, to the late Alvin L. Ray and Vertie Smith Ray. Mrs. Mikell was a member of the New Ramah Primitive Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Bill Burnap of Laurel Hill, Fla.; grandchildren, Valerie Jean Janeway and her husband, Matthew Janeway, James N. Ellis; great-grandchildren, Angela Alyward, Michelle Merritt and her husband, Joe Merritt, Sierra Beck, Bryan Rickenbach; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlton Z. (Mike) Mikell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, in the chapel of the Martin/McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ramah Cemetery in Ray City.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
