Willie Mae McFadden

-- — Mrs. Willie Mae McFadden was born August 31, 1938 in Valdosta, Ga., to the late Oscar and Hester Thomas.  She was educated in the Valdosta City School System.

She worked at Coastal Plains as a Social Outreach Caseworker.  She loved people and loved doing whatever it took to make them happy.  She managed the Hope Center where their motto was: “Where there’s hope, there’s love.”  After retiring from the Hope Center, she started her antique business.  She was passionate about collecting antiques, vintage clothing and jewelry.  She loved and understood beauty and art. She was an antique dealer and business owner until she retired in 2013.

Willie Mae McFadden transitioned from this life June 6, 2014 at the age of 75.  She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Mr. Rogers McFadden; her parents: Oscar and Hester Thomas and one brother:  Willie Lee Thomas.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Willie Faye Njuguna, Jerry Flowers, and Carolyn Epie; grandchildren: Napoleon Keith, Michael Simmons, Tamika Renea, Shamika, Keeva, Shomonti, Jerry (Olivia), Sharonda, Lateisha and Tavaris; one brother: Oscar Thomas; one sister: Carolyn Thomas; one brother in-law: Thomas Fields; sisters in-law: Ella J. Ported (Marvin), Jacquelyn E. Green (Milton), Rose E. Weaver (Thomas), Marjorie Covington (Grady), Beatrice Hunt and Jasmine Fields; step-children: Bryant Dixon and Adrian McFadden; fifteen great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; best friends: Pheeby and Mrs. Mary; special neighbors: James, Tonya and Troy; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Mrs. Willie Mae McFadden will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., from the sanctuary of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 500 E. Force Street, Valdosta, GA.  Rev. David Adams is pastor and Evangelist Willie Jackson will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Valdosta, Ga.  Public viewing will be today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at  — Godfrey Funeral Home, LLC.
