Mary Nell Bennett, 77, of Valdosta, passed away Sun., Dec. 22, 2013, at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 29, 1936 in Cecil, a daughter of the late James Ansil and Mary Gertrude Byrd Crosby. Mrs. Bennett was a member of Clyattville Baptist Church, she was a loving mother and grandmother, greatly loved her family, and was a very giving and wonderful person.
She is survived by four sons and a daughter, Terry Wayne Clark and wife Diana, Jimmy Epler and wife Annette, David Epler and Jackie, Sibyl Dillon and husband Blaine, and Dewayne Johnson and wife Taylor, all of Valdosta; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; special niece and nephew, Dena and Leo Harper of Miss.; special friend, John Johnson of Valdosta; and her canine companion, Boogaman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth LaVonne Bennett; daughter, Ann Johnson; sister, Louise Akins; and brother, James Crosby.
The funeral service for Mrs. Bennett will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thurs., Dec. 26, 2013, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Missionary Terry Wayne Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thurs. at the funeral home.
