Mrs. Alice Marie (Gibbs) Pearson, passed away on Sunday evening Feb. 2, 2014 at Atlanta Medical Center from injuries received in an accident on December 30, 2013. Alice graduated from Lowndes County High School and Valdosta State College before entering Grady School of Nursing where she received an RN degree. She worked as a pink lady, then as a nurse in several hospitals including Smith Hospital, Clayton General Hospital, Spalding Regional Hospital and Upson Regional Medical Center. She loved orchids and hummingbirds. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother (Nana). She took joy in caring for her family and others. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. John Walker Gibbs, Jr. and Thelma Joiner Gibbs, and a brother, Jerry Gibbs.
Alice is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dwain Pearson; their three children and spouses, Robin and Jay Graham of Wilmington, N.C., Kimberly and Scott Morgan of Pearson, Ga., and Kevin and Mandy Pearson of Zebulon, grandchildren, Kayla, Austin and Brandon Graham, Madison and Mason Morgan and Gabraella and Logan Pearson, sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and John Hadden of Lakeland, Fla. and Margaret and Ernie Hilton of Leesburg, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. in Pike County Assembly of God Church in Zebulon. Mr. Dwain Pearson, the Rev. Tommy Smith, and the Rev. Dewayne Joiner will officiate. Burial will follow in Fincher Memorial Cemetery.
