-- — Felton Daugherty, 72, of Valdosta, passed away at his home on Monday, December 6, 2014, after succumbing to a short battle with A.L.S.

He was born October 28, 1941, in Valdosta, a son of the late Jack Howell and Ollie Stubbs Daugherty, and graduated from Pine Grove High School.  After thirty-seven years of dedicated service, Mr. Daugherty retired as Captain from the City of Valdosta Fire Department.  He was a well respected house painter in this area for many years, he also took great pride in his pecan orchards and was devoted to maintaining high quality yields from his crop.  

Mr. Daugherty was a member of Forrest Park Church of Christ.  He loved spending time with his family and loved ones traveling throughout the states and other countries on forty-five cruises.  He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, a die hard outdoorsman.

In addition to his wife of fifty-three years, Ginger Simpson Daugherty; he is survived by two sons, Greg Daugherty and companion Elizabeth Ridnour, and Doug Daugherty and wife Stacie, all of Valdosta; three grandchildren, Brett Daugherty, Drew Daugherty and Kyleigh Daugherty, all of Valdosta; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jimmy Daugherty and wife Annette, Mike Daugherty and wife Marlene, Steve Daugherty and wife Sandra, all of Valdosta; one sister-in-law, Frankie Daugherty of Valdosta; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Daugherty.

The Daugherty family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Tameka and Michelle of Halcyon Hospice for their loving care and support.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Mr. Ryan Tuten officiating.
