J.L. Eunice, Jr.

Mr. J.L. Eunice, Jr., 72, of Folkston, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007, at his residence. He was born in Ware County and was the son of the late John Lester Sr. and Mary Margaret Crews Eunice. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years and served in the Vietnam Conflict. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Folkston.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Rita Thrift Eunice; four sons, Col. John L. (Tammy) Eunice, III of Sumter, S.C., Ron (Phyllis) Eunice of Folkston, Pete Barry (Robin) Eunice of Pueblo, Colo., and Rex Jeffery (Jan) of Eufala, Ala.; nine grandchildren, John Andrew, Lindsey, James David, Jamie, Caleb, Jacob, Hanna, Joseph, and LeeRoy Eunice; four sisters, Leona Harden and Wille Pearl Steedley both of Folkston, Margaret Gorman of Dade City, Fla., and Ardath Harden of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; three brothers: Jimmy Eunice of Waycross, Carlton Eunice and Mike Eunice Both of Folkston.

The family receive friends Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston beginning at 6 p.m. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 15, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Folkston with the Rev. Gene McCullough and the Rev. Randy Wainwright officiating. Burial was held in Riverside Cemetery.

Beulah Stalvey Exum

Beulah Stalvey Exum, 94, of Valdosta, died on Friday, March 16, 2007, at Heritage House Nursing Home after a short illness.

Born in Lowndes County on Dec. 13, 1912, she was one of 12 children born to the late John J. and Ellen Cowart Stalvey. Mrs. Exum was associated with the Pine Grove School lunchroom for many years. She was a member of Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
