Myrna Loy Galbreath
June 5, 1931 – April 21, 2013
Graveside services for Myrna Loy Williams Galbreath, 81, of Lakeland, Ga., formerly of Cairo, Ga., will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, Ga. The Rev. Tim VanLandingham will officiate. Mrs. Galbreath passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Fellowship Home at Brookside, Valdosta.
Mrs. Galbreath was born on June 5, 1931, in Cairo, Ga., to the late Alonzo Williams and Susie Logue Williams. Myrna graduated from Cairo High School, Cairo, Ga., in 1948 and graduated from Perry Business School, Albany, Ga. She married Gelon Galbreath in May of 1958, and they had three children, Carol, David and Bonnie. She worked for the Florida Supreme Court, Clark Realty Company and retired as a secretary with Gordon Heights Baptist Church in Cairo. She lived her entire life in Cairo until the last five years of her life when she moved with her husband to Lakeland, Ga., to be closer to family due to declining health. Myrna was an avid reader and had a love of travel. After retirement, she and Gelon took many vacations and were fortunate to be able to travel around the world. She enjoyed spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church, Cairo, Ga. and most recently attended Lakeland United Methodist Church, Lakeland, Ga.
Survivors include, daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Kevin Tuschl of Smyrna, Ga., Bonnie and John Hart of Lakeland, Ga; son, David Galbreath and Sandy Carter of Orange Park, Fla.; granddaughters, Kelly Hart of Lakeland, Ga., Savannah Tuschl of Smyrna, Ga.; grandsons, Jonathan Hart of Lakeland, Ga., and Bryant Tuschl of Smyrna, Ga.; and a sister, Reba W. Perkins of Cairo, Ga.
Mrs. Galbreath was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Susie Williams; her husband, Gelon Galbreath; and a brother, Jerome Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Long Branch Baptist Church, P.O. Box 502, Cairo, GA 39828.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at graveside.
