Anthony Quinn Barfield Sr.

-- — Chief Anthony Quinn Barfield Sr. was born September 21, 1965 in Brooklyn, New York to Mrs. Georgianna Jenkins and Jather Barfield.  He passed this life on April 9, 2013 at the age of 47 at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia.

He received his education in the New York public school system. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Army. He served from June 30, 1983 until September 21, 1992. He then completed Post certification on April 7, 1993 and served for different durations and agencies until April 9, 2013. He served as Chief of Police in Barwick, Georgia until his passing. He was a dedicated member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church as President of Ushers.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Sybil Barfield of Valdosta, Georgia; three daughters, Nikita Barfield, Valdosta, Georgia, LaTasha (Jamaal) Hobbs, Valdosta, Georgia, Toni Barfield, Valdosta, Georgia; one son, Anthony Barfield II, Valdosta, Georgia; his parents, Georgianna (Bobby) Jenkins, Vanceboro, North Carolina and Jather Barfield, Vanceboro, North Carolina; one brother, Antoine (Reather) Barfield, Vanceboro, North Carolina; a loving cousin, Frankie (Monique) Moore, Pennington, New Jersey; two sisters, Tamu (Colis) Oneil, Boiling Springs, South Carolina, Sheree (Clinton) Stevens, Brunswick, Georgia; two grandchildren, JaNieva Hobbs and Jamaal Hobbs, Valdosta, Georgia; father and mother-in-law, Rev. Sibley (Marion) Matchett, Jr., Valdosta, Georgia; brother-in-law, Sibley (Cami) Matchett, III, Valdosta, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, colleagues and friends.

Funeral services for Barwick, Georgia's Chief of Police, Chief Anthony Q. Barfield, Sr., will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 11 a.m.  at the Simmon Hill Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1880 Simmon Hill Road in Dixie, Georgia with Rev. J. B. Miller officiating.  Military burial rites will follow the services at the Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery located at 3945 North Valdosta Road in Valdosta, Georgia.  The Barfield Family's public viewing and visitation will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013 between the hours of 3:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. at the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home located at 301 East Green Street in Quitman, Georgia.  Condolences may be sent to stevensmcgheefuneralhome.com.  Please contact Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home at 229-263-4978 for directions, questions or concerns.  — Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home.
