Survivors include his devoted wife of 54 years, Julia Barrs Harmon; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Carmen Harmon; six grandchildren, Nicole Harmon Shaw (Hunter), Tyler Harmon, Courtney Harmon, Randi Harmon, Keith Harmon and Charity Harmon; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Kristin Shaw; nephew, David Stola; three sisters-in-law, Catherine Kent (Claude, deceased), Eunice Dugas (Charley), Frances Blanton (Arthur); one brother-in-law, Eddie Lee Barrs Jr. (Penny); and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Harmon was preceded in death by a son, Randall Keith Harmon; a special grandmother, Lillie Mae Platt; and a sister, Mary Lillian (Snookie) Strahern.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Dean Spivey officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Hospice of South Georgia or Grace Baptist Church. Pinetta, Fla.

John J. Noel

John J. Noel, 85, of Pinetta, Fla., went to be with the Lord and Savior on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, in his home in the presence of his family.

He was born in Hanover, Pa., on May 18, 1922. After serving his country for four years in the Air Force, he settled his roots in Sarasota, Fla., where he met his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Eugene Selph. He retired from Sarasota General Hospital as a security officer.

Mr. Noel was a member of the University Parkway Bible Church in Sarasota, Fla. John enjoyed hunting, bass fishing and had a great passion for the outdoors. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George C. Noel; two sisters, Doris and Theresa Anne; and a son, Charles Edward Noel.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Dorothy (Dottie) of Pinetta, Fla.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard J. and Louvenia Noel of Pinetta, Fla., and Bruce A. and Sue M. Noel of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandsons and wives, Jason Edward and Karen Noel of Princeton, Texas, Geoffrey Scott and Allison Noel of Atlanta, Brandon Phillip Noel of Dillon, Colo., and Hank and Allison Rogers of Sarasota, Fla.; two great-granddaughters, Lily Marie Noel of Atlanta and Lily Grace Rogers of Sarasota, Fla.; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys Kuykendall of York, Pa., and Janet and J.C. Coalhouse of New Oxford, Pa.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Mt. Horeb Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Big Ben Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Fla., 32308-5428. — Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home.
