Edna Barrow Lewis

Edna Barrow Lewis, 88, of Barwick passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at her residence after a brief illness.

Born in Berrien County, she was the daughter of Ernest D. and Nora Norwood Barrow. She was a beautician and a member of the Barwick United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kaye and Dan McIsaac of Albany, Beth and Wayne Godwin of LaGrange; nephew, Ernie and Judy Barrow of Barwick; nine grandchildren, April (Alan) Cook, Mandy (Bobby) Nolen, Michael (Lisa) Herndon, Joe (Stephanie) Herndon, David (Whitney) Herndon, Jim (Gina) McIsaac, Carolyn (Vance) VanBuskirk, Joey Barrow and Jessie Barrow; 20 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Jean Davis of Edison. She was preceded in death by her husband, G.C. Lewis; brother, Joe Barrow; and granddaughter, Nancy Beth Godwin; and grandson, Michael McIssac.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m. at Barwick United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kirk Beckham officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the Barwick Community Center.

In lieu of floral tributes, those desiring may make contributions to her beloved Barwick United Methodist Church.

HOPE MILLS, N.C.

Steven Ray Elrod

Spc. Steven Ray Elrod, 20, of 5259 Heather St., died Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, in Baghdad, Iraq.

Steven was a graduate of Massey Hill Classical High School in 2005 and was a star athlete in basketball. He was a specialist in the U.S. Army with 18 months of service. He lived in Hope Mills, N.C., for seven years and worked at McDonald’s in Hope Mills for two years. He was loved by all and was godfather to a beautiful little girl, Kiley Thornall.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, in the chapel of Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service Saturday at the funeral home, followed by a fellowship at Fayetteville Christian Church, 4308 Rosehill Road.
