Thomas Baker Norris, 79, of Valdosta passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at the Langdale Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was born in Brooks County on Nov. 8, 1927, to the late James Jasper and Ruby (Cannon) Norris. He served in the U.S. Navy. Following his service to his country, he was employed by Snow’s Laundry, Ernie Paine Used Cars and retired while at SAFT. During his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and NASCAR racing. Mr. Norris was a member of Grace Community Chapel, Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, James, Hugh and Sherwood Norris.

Survivors include his wife, Jurelle Norris of Valdosta; two daughters and son-in-law, Marsha Webb of Valdosta, Charlotte and Greg Turner, Valdosta; three sons and daughters-in-law, T.C. and Stevie Norris, Dasher, Jimmy Norris, Adel, Bobby and Jo Norris, Valdosta; grandchildren, Shane and Jules Norris, Max and Melissa Remon, Travis and Jennifer Norris, Robby and Sami Norris, Clay Norris and Magen McGahee, Jennifer and Mack Peace, Sharon Webb, Jasper and Melodie Norris, Brent Turner, Jamie Turner and Matthew Turner; seven great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Autrey and Barbara Norris, Merritt Island, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with Pastor Vernon Eckleberry officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
