Audrey Patten Folsom
Audrey Patten Folsom of Lakeland, passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at the Louis Smith Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. After graduating from the Lanier County School system, she went on to attend and graduate from Georgia State Womans College in Valdosta in the spring of 1934. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Miller Hardware and Miller Farms for 36 years and retired in February 2005. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lakeland, Woodmen of the World, Real Club, Widows Club and the Mary Threatte Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. (G.H.) Folsom Jr.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B. Patten; two sisters, Bessie Jo Patten and Dorothy Patten Fike.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. George H. III and Karen Folsom, Alpharetta; daughter, Carol Folsom Smith, Lakeland; brother-in-law, E.R. Fike, Montgomery, Ala.; granddaughter, Jennifer (Tim) Harrison, Lakeland; granddaughter, Amy Folsom, Louisville, Ky.; granddaughter, Heather (Gregg) Sherrington, Snoqualmie, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Henry Folsom, Mathew Harrison and Dylan Sherrington; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at First Baptist Church, Lakeland, with burial following in Burnt Church Cemetery. Patsy Ann Ryan McCoy
Patsy Ann Ryan McCoy, 70, of Valdosta passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at Lakehaven Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was born on Nov. 28, 1936, in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Pascal Elewood Ryan and Dorothy Welland Conner. She had been a residence of Valdosta since 1974, coming from Jacksonville, Fla. She graduated from Hillsborough High School. Ms. McCoy was a member of Brandon’s Jr. Women’s Club, Grey Lady at Beaumont Army Hospital, secretary of Kappa Epsilon Chapter, Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, a National Business Girls Sorority in Tampa and a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Linda Belcher, Valdosta, Amy and Mark Massey, Panama City, Fla.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy and Carl Parnell, Gainesville, Fla., Woodie Ryan, St. Augustine, Fla.; longtime friend, Norman “Eddie” Chadwick, Valdosta.
