Bobby “Bobby Jack” Cofield, 56, of Tifton died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 15, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
The Rev. Aaron Clanton and the Rev. Carroll Allen will officiate. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta with burial to follow in Riverview Memorial Cemetery in Valdosta. Pete Cofield, Jerry Cofield, Larry Cofield, Ronnie Cofield, Bill Cofield and Dwight Ray will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends in Tifton immediately following the service at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 15, 2007, and from 7-9 p.m. this evening, Sept. 15, 2007, at Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta.
Mr. Cofield was born on Aug. 26, 1951, in Lowndes County and was the son of J.B. Cofield, Sr. and Rudene Allen Cofield, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Denise Stewart. He worked in law enforcement and was owner of Sunny Car Sales. He was a United States Army veteran, a former police officer and a member of Corinth Freewill Baptist Church in Brookfield, where he was the song leader and teacher of the Teen Sunday School Class. He had lived in Tifton for four years from Lowndes County where he was born and raised.
Mr. Cofield is survived by his wife, Wanda Franks Cofield of Tifton; his mother-in-law, Maxine Franks of Tifton; one son, Lee R. Cooper of Rome; two daughters and one son-in-law, Stacey and Jeff Hall of Valdosta and Amanda Cofield of Maryland; two brothers and sisters-in-law, J.B. Cofield Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Jacksonville, Fla., and Judge Dewey Cofield and his wife, Joyce of Valdosta; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Wilbur “Leo” Pelphrey of Valdosta; four brothers-in-law and their spouses, Lanny and Jan Franks of Tifton, Randy and Joyce Franks of Jesup, Ronny and Sherrie Franks of Cumming and Lenn and Lisa Franks of Rockford, Tenn.; one sister-in-law and her spouse, Diane Franks Pickens and her husband, Ronald, of Tifton; three granddaughters, Brittini Cooper of Rome, Taylor Hall of Valdosta and Heather Cooper of Rome; special longtime friends, Dwight and Sherry Ray of Valdosta; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; special cousins and other family and friends.

T. N. Holcombe Jr.
T. N. Holcombe Jr., 86, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Valdosta on March 5, 1921 he was the son of the late Daisie W. and T.N. Holcombe Sr. During World War II he served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. Judge Holcombe was the probate judge for Lowndes County from 1949 until 1991, succeeding his father who had served as probate judge from 1915 through 1948. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Judge Holcombe was an avid golfer and a long time member of the Valdosta Country Club.
Surviving are his wife, Betty H. Holcombe of Valdosta; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Allan Nagy of Valdosta, Ginger and Jed Dees of Savannah; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Mary Holcombe of Orange Park, Fla.; grandchildren, Jodi and Jason Myddelton of Valdosta, Jay McDonald of Coolidge, Josh Bennett of Tampa, Florida, Sean Dees, Kristi Dees of Savannah, Carlo Bean, Katie Holcombe of Orange Park, Fla., Madalene Nagy of Nashville, Tenn.; six great-grandchildren; and three nieces.
Funeral services will be held today, Sept. 15, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Mac Weaver and Judge Mac McLane.
