Faith Ella Easters
Faith Ella Easters, 71, of Quitman died at her residence on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007. She was born in Berrien County on Feb. 2, 1936, to the late Samuel and Fannie Bell Hancock Young. She was a sewing machine operator and attended Nazarene Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Thomas of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Sue Perez of Valdosta; sons, Rowland Perron of Texas and Joe Perron of R.I.; daughters, Tina Terrell of Quitman, Regina Winters of Valdosta, Patricia Behrens of Quitman; son, Dennis Perron of Winter Haven, Fla.; grandchildren, Crystal Sanchez, Charles Conger II, Chairty Conger, Tony Thomas, Rocky and Samantha Terrell, Shaun Behrens, Ashley and Kelsey Winters, James Perez, Joey and Gabby Perron; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Gaskins of Valdosta, Reba Shultz of Everett, Wash., Geneva Carr of Atlanta, Lois Lawson of Valdosta; brothers, Jimmy Young of Fla., Bobby Young of Tenn. and James Young of Long Co.; Beloved Mother, Granny and Nanna you will be missed and always loved. Love says no with empathy and great compassion. Love is firm, but when needed it must be tender. When others have tried and failed, love is the hand in yours in your moments of discouragement and disappointment.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Sept. 14, 2007, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. James Young officiating. Fern R. Allen
Fern R. Allen, 83, of Ray City, died on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at his home. Born in Sevierville, Tenn., on Jan. 16, 1924, he was the son of the late Dayton and Edith Allen. He had made his home in Lowndes County since 1957. Mr. Allen was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 28 years, receiving medals too numerous to mention. Mr. Allen was a member of the VFW, Fellowship Daylight Lodge No. 748, was a ham radio operator and a Red Cross volunteer. A Mason for more than 50 years, he was Past Master of Moody Lodge No. 719. Mr. Allen worked with the Boys Club Little League teams and his favorite pastime was woodworking, fishing and spending time with his best friend, Eddie Crowe. He was employed with civil service at Moody Air Force Base for 15 years. Until his health failed he was an active and faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Mabel D. Allen of Ray City; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael R. and Roxann Allen of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; daughter, Gwendolyn Allen of Snellville, Ga., a sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Willie Oertel of Farmville, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The Rev. Steven Kegley will officiate and a eulogy will be given by Joe Crow. Masonic rites and military honors and burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. this evening. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Diabetes Foundation, Arthritis Foundation and Alzheimers Research Foundation.
