Linda Jewell Glass Yawn Rosier
Linda Jewell Glass Yawn Rosier, 62 of 5910 Highway 133, South, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at Berlin Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Billingsley officiating.
Born on Feb. 24, 1945, in Colquitt County, she was the daughter of the late Layton Glass and Verdie Tillman Glass Cannon Powers. Mrs. Rosier was a homemaker and a member of Berlin Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Paul L. Yawn, Jr. of Gainesville, Fla.; one daughter, Debbie Baker and husband Lee of Cecil, Ga.; a special friend, Pete Benson of Berlin; two grandchildren, Anthony K. Levins and Brandy Lee Baker; one great-grandchild, Sean Oliver Levins.

Ava Nell Roe Touchton
Mrs. Ava Nell Roe Touchton, 83 of Homerville, passed away early Thursday morning Sept. 13, 2007, at Lakeland Villa Convalescent Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Touchton was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Clinch County, She was a member of the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Sally Thomas Roe and Johnny Roe and was preceded in death by her husband, William Franklin Touchton, and one son, Franklin Touchton .
Survivors are one daughter, Glenda Ballance of Homerville; one sister, Johnnie Faye Vest of Homerville; one brother Otis Roe of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several other relatives.
Services for Mrs. Touchton will be held Saturday Sept. 15, 2007, at 2 p.m. from the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Keith Chauncey and the Rev. Lynn Barber. Internment will be in Pine Forest Cemetery. Mrs. Touchton will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Faith Ella Easters, 71, of Quitman died at her residence on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007. She was born in Berrien County on Feb. 2, 1936, to the late Samuel and Fannie Bell Hancock Young. She was a sewing machine operator and attended Nazarene Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Thomas of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Sue Perez of Valdosta; sons, Rowland Perron of Texas and Joe Perron of R.I.; daughters, Tina Terrell of Quitman, Regina Winters of Valdosta, Patricia Behrens of Quitman; son, Dennis Perron of Winter Haven, Fla.; grandchildren, Crystal Sanchez, Charles Conger II, Chairty Conger, Tony Thomas, Rocky and Samantha Terrell, Shaun Behrens, Ashley and Kelsey Winters, James Perez, Joey and Gabby Perron; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Gaskins of Valdosta, Reba Shultz of Everett, Wash., Geneva Carr of Atlanta, Lois Lawson of Valdosta; brothers, Jimmy Young of Fla., Bobby Young of Tenn. and James Young of Long Co.; Beloved Mother, Granny and Nanna you will be missed and always loved. Love says no with empathy and great compassion. Love is firm, but when needed it must be tender. When others have tried and failed, love is the hand in yours in your moments of discouragement and disappointment.

Fern R. Allen
Fern R. Allen, 83, of Ray City, died on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at his home. Born in Sevierville, Tenn., on Jan. 16, 1924, he was the son of the late Dayton and Edith Allen. He had made his home in Lowndes County since 1957. Mr. Allen was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 28 years, receiving medals too numerous to mention. Mr. Allen was a member of the VFW, Fellowship Daylight Lodge No. 748, was a ham radio operator and a Red Cross volunteer. A Mason for more than 50 years, he was Past Master of Moody Lodge No. 719. Mr. Allen worked with the Boys Club Little League teams and his favorite pastime was woodworking, fishing and spending time with his best friend, Eddie Crowe. He was employed with civil service at Moody Air Force Base for 15 years. Until his health failed he was an active and faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Mabel D. Allen of Ray City; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael R. and Roxann Allen of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; daughter, Gwendolyn Allen of Snellville, Ga., a sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Willie Oertel of Farmville, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The Rev. Steven Kegley will officiate and a eulogy will be given by Joe Crow. Masonic rites and military honors and burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. this evening. Leodis Anderson of Valdosta passed this life Sept. 5, 2007.
Mr. Anderson was born on July 20, 1936, in Lowndes County, Ga., to the late Mr. Sam Anderson and the late Mrs. Mollie Mae Bobley Anderson. Mr. Anderson served in the United States Army and retired as a postal worker. Mr. Leodis Anderson was preceded in death by his brother Lynn Anderson, Sr.

Kenneth D. Duff
Kenneth D. Duff, 77, of Valdosta, died at his residence on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007. He was born on May 27, 1930 in Cogswell, N.D., to the late Roy and Lillian Pegal Duff. Mr. Duff was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was retired from Southern Bell. He was of the Baptist faith.
His survivors include his three sons, Robert Duff of Lake Park, Richard Duff of Naylor, Ronnie Duff of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Darryl Smith of Valdosta. Mr. Duff is also survived by 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Dorothy Toyne of Iowa; and his brother Charles Fiedler of Minn.

T. N. Holcombe Jr.
T. N. Holcombe Jr., 86, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Valdosta on March 5, 1921 he was the son of the late Daisie W. and T.N. Holcombe, Sr. During World War II he served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. Judge Holcombe was the Probate Judge for Lowndes County from 1949 until 1991, succeeding his father who had served as Probate Judge from 1915 through 1948. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Judge Holcombe was an avid golfer and a long time member of the Valdosta Country Club.
Surviving are his wife, Betty H. Holcombe of Valdosta; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Allan Nagy of Valdosta, Ginger and Jed Davis of Savannah; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Mary Holcombe of Orange Park, Fla.; grandchildren, Jodi and Jason Myddelton of Valdosta, Jay McDonald of Coolidge, Josh Bennett of Tampa, Florida, Sean Dees, Kristi Dees of Savannah, Carlo Bean, Katie Holcombe of Orange Park, Fla., Madalene Nagy of Nashville, Tenn.; six great-grandchildren; and three nieces.

Eva Mae Ward
Eva Mae Ward was born in Lowndes County on May 17, 1925, to the late Horace Marshall and Sally Whitfield Marshall. She attended school in Lowndes County, Ga., accepted Christ at an early age and late in life, met and married Sam T. Ward, who she remained happily with until his passing. She was a faithful member of Payton AME Church, serving as a Stewardess. On Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, God opened his arms and welcomed her home.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family, one step son, Sam Ward, Jr., (Dorothy); two sisters Almary Bell and Elnora Marshall preceded her in death; two brothers, K.C. Marshall and Pete Marshall preceded her in death; half brother, Joe B.
