VALDOSTA – A Valdosta man was killed in a two-car incident shortly after noon Wednesday, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Rahsaan Simon, 40, of Valdosta was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision at the intersection of Loch Laurel and Carroll Ulmer roads, GSP Cpl. Ryan Harding said.

He was driving a Nissan Altima north on Loch Laurel Road when the vehicle was struck in the driver's side by a Chrysler 200 traveling east on Carroll Ulmer Road, according to the GSP report.

The Chrysler "failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection of Loch Laurel Road," according to the GSP.

Natalie Wyatt, 18, of Cairo was driving the Chrysler, according to the GSP. She suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by private vehicle to Archbold Medical Center, troopers report.

The investigation of the collision continued Wednesday evening. The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene.

It is the second fatal collision this week in Lowndes County. An 18-year-old was killed Sunday in a collision at the intersection of Oak Street Extension and Lake Laurie Drive.
