VALDOSTA — Two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision around 7:30 a.m. Monday on Coleman Road, according to Trooper 1st Class William Cope with the Georgia State Patrol.

Clint Thomas Wills, 26, was headed northbound driving a black Ford pick-up truck. A white Nissan Pathfinder headed southbound and driven by Carol Ann Goyette, 65, drifted into the northbound lane, striking the truck head-on at approximately 35 miles per hour, Cope reported.

Authorities believe that Goyette became distracted while talking on her cell phone before drifting into the on-coming lane.

Goyette was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Lowndes County Fire Department. She and Wills were taken to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries including multiple broken bones. Both were expected to be listed in stable condition, according to Cope.

Cope added that no citations have currently been issued, but may be pending following further investigation.
