Brooks takes another region win over the Purple Hurricanes

Fitzgerald — Friday night's game in Fitzgerald belonged to Brooks County.

The Trojans (6-1, 3-0) earned another signature win on the road, the team's fourth win on the road already this season, by knocking off the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricanes (4-2-1, 2-1) 39-21 in a clash of region 1-AA titans.

The Trojans never trailed, taking a commanding 19-7 lead early in the game and never looking back en route to an 18-point victory over a team who has been a powerhouse in region 1-AA in recent years.

The Trojans turned in a complete team effort, scoring through the air, on the ground, on special teams, and on defense.

Malkom Parrish got the Trojans on the board early with a passing touchdown.

Next, it was the special team's turn, as Brooks County caught a Fitzgerald punt just two minutes into the second quarter and returned it for a touchdown.

With the win, Brooks County becomes the only unbeaten team in region play with only games against the region's worst three teams-Pelham, Cook, and Berrien (a combined 1-6 in region play) -left to go.
