Cook County Sheriff's Office arrested a detention officer after an investigation into inappropriate behavior with inmates.
Bobbie Gail Moore, 39, was arrested at her home in Hahira and charged with one felony count of giving false statements to a government agency, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
The charge is the result of an internal investigation conducted through the sheriff’s office after it was made aware within the last week of allegations of inappropriate physical contact with Cook County Jail inmates, authorities said.
“We take these situations very seriously, as all of our employees, myself included, are held to a high standard of conduct, and incidents such as this violate the public’s trust and faith in law enforcement,” said Cook County Sheriff Douglas Hanks. “It is important that the citizens know that we will act swiftly when we receive allegations of inappropriate conduct regardless of who is involved.”
Moore was taken to the Cook County Jail were she was processed and booked, but she was transferred to a neighboring agency to await bonding procedures.
Moore had been a detention officer with the sheriff’s office for approximately six months. Her employment was terminated with the arrest, according to the sheriff's office.
