Valdosta man pursues musical dream

VALDOSTA — Freddie Finnissee is a man who believes in pursuing and achieving his dreams.

He has helped the developmentally challenged for years. He coaches football and baseball teams. He is a karate instructor. He’s operated a recording studio. He is a fitness buff. Finnissee of Valdosta keeps moving and doing.

But it was a combination of encouragement from wife Yolanda and family and friends as well as facing a few tribulations in his life that led Finnissee to finally pursue a longtime dream.

Finnissee wanted to write songs, sing those songs and record a CD.

Mark that down now as another Finnissee dream accomplished, but one that is still only beginning.

It’s only been a relatively few weeks since Finnissee has released “All About You,” a three-song recording that features R&B songs with Finnissee’s smooth-as-silk vocals designed for romance. Finnissee wrote the lyrics and composed the music for all three songs: “Never Find Another Like Me,” “Baby Come Back,” and the title track “All About You.”

Finnissee says he’s always enjoyed music and singing but has always been more of “a singing in the shower type” rather than a performer. Still, being more deeply involved with music has always appealed to him. He came to appreciate if he planned to pursue his music, the time had arrived.

He wrote songs that speak things that a man should want to say to his significant other.

“Every lady likes to know that it’s all about them. That it’s all about you,” he says.

The CD has received airplay on area radio stations. The song “All About You” has become the most popular track on the CD, but it is not Finnissee’s favorite. His favorite song is “Baby Come Back.”

Finnissee is already planning his next CD, which will be a longer recording expected to feature 10 original songs. He’s written a few new songs and Finnissee hopes the second CD will be recorded and available by year’s end.

He is also looking into creating a music video and preparing a live show, which would allow Finnissee to add performing artist along with recording artist to his growing resume.
