A man was gunned down while standing outside of a store on West Gordon Street Tuesday evening, and authorities wouldn’t rule out the possibility that the incident was linked with two other shooting incidents that occurred a few hours before and after the homicide outside of Gordon’s Food Mart, according to reports from the Valdosta Police Department.
Witnesses reported observing an African-American male firing a handgun after exiting the passenger side of a dark-colored SUV that had entered the store’s lot, according to reports.
Jarid Little, 24, was shot while standing outside of the store, at approximately 6:30 p.m., though no other individual were harmed in the shooting, according to reports. Little was transported to South Georgia Medical Center where he subsequently passed away from his wounds, reports stated.
The offenders left the scene in the dark-colored SUV immediately following the shooting, reports stated.
While a motive hadn’t been established Wednesday afternoon, a murder warrant was issued for Antoni Jevon “Snapper” Tippins, 31, of Valdosta, reports stated.
Tippins hadn’t been apprehended Wednesday evening, and authorities have asked that citizens avoid contact with him, reports stated. Tippins was described as armed and dangerous, so police have asked citizens with knowledge of his whereabouts to contact area law-enforcement authorities immediately, according to reports.
Detectives and city-county Crime Laboratory personnel were still investigating the Gordon Street homicide on Wednesday and working to determine if it was connected to a shooting that occurred approximately two hours earlier, according to reports.
A man, who had been sitting in his vehicle under an overpass, came under fire at approximately 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when a dark-colored truck stopped next to his vehicle, reports stated. The man reported an African-American male fired multiple shots from a handgun in his direction, according to reports.
Multiple shots hit the man’s 2001 Jeep Cherokee on the driver’s side, but he was not struck, according to reports. The victim reported that the offender immediately fled the area, as did he, reports stated.
Valdosta Police Department detectives have been working multiple leads on this incident along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory has been analyzing the ballistics recovered in this case, reports stated.
While a dark-colored vehicle wasn’t tied to a third shooting, Valdosta Police Department detectives hadn’t ruled out a possible link Wednesday between the afternoon and evening shootings with a pedestrian assault Tuesday night on East Jane Street, reports stated.
While outside of his residence, a man was shot in his leg by an unknown offender who had crept up on him from behind, according to reports. After the shot was fired, two African-American males fled east on East Jane Street, reports stated.
The shooter was described as an African-American male wearing a white shirt, reports stated.
The wounded man was transported to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment, and it appeared that his injury posed no threat to his life, according to reports.
The VPD responded to the East Jane Street incident, along with deputies from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, reports stated.
Witnesses were interviewed and detectives were following leads Wednesday evening, according to reports. Ballistics have been collected and were set for analysis by forensic specialists at the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory, according to reports.
Detectives were still working to solve the West Gordon Street, West Martin Luther King Drive and East Jane Street shootings, according to reports on Wednesday.
