GSP continues deadly wreck investigation

QUITMAN — More details have emerged regarding the fatal collision that took a Florida woman’s life Saturday evening and injured six other motorists on Georgia Highway 133, according to authorities from the Georgia State Patrol Monday.

Raychelle Gaston, 49, of Pensacola, Fla., perished due to injuries suffered when the car she was riding in, a Pontiac G6, was rear-ended by a Ford Focus roughly half a mile south of Cates Road on Highway 133, according to reports released Monday.

Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol responded to the collision at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, reports stated.

The Pontiac G6 spun 180 degrees after impact and was struck a second time by a Chevy Silverado that had been traveling in the opposite direction, reports stated. The Silverado struck the G6 in the right rear side, according to reports.

There was no word on road conditions around the scene of the accident, reports stated. Charges await further investigation by the GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team unit, according to reports.
