VALDOSTA — More details have emerged in the Saturday evening armed robbery of a convenience store.

At 10:20 p.m., Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call from the clerk at Bo’s BP Station, 1405 N. St. Augustine Road, who said she had been robbed and assaulted. The clerk reported that a man entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded money. After giving the man money, the clerk said she was struck several times with the handgun. The man then forced the clerk into a store room before fleeing with money, cigarettes and lottery tickets, according to

reports.

The clerk was bleeding from the head and taken to South Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

Deputies stopped a vehicle on Val Tech Road soon after the incident and learned that the driver dropped off an individual in the parking lot of the Commons Apartments who fit the description given by the witness. The driver was not involved in the robbery and is not facing charges, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deharvene Demps, 20, was arrested after investigators located him in an apartment. Investigators found a firearm, which turned out to be a BB gun, and a wig that Demps allegedly wore during the robbery, according to reports.

Demps was taken to the Lowndes County Jail and charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping, reports stated.
