‘Lowndes County Memories’ book available

VALDOSTA — A pictorial history of the early years of Lowndes County can now be seen in a new book from The Valdosta Daily Times and First State Bank.

“Lowndes County Memories” is a collection of personal photographs from 1800 to the 1970s submitted by Valdosta Daily Times readers and photos provided by the Lowndes County Historical Society and Museum.

“Lowndes County Memories will take you on a trip back in time. Broken up into chapters, this book will walk you through all stages of the development and progression of our education systems, hospitals, churches, roads, community events, our people and so much more,” said Rachel Thrasher, Times advertising executive. “Unlike the many other books published about Lowndes County, this book was put together using the photo collections of our neighbors, friends and family. There will be photos never published and that may never be published again.”

“Lowndes County Memories” can be purchased online at www.valdostadailytimes.com or by calling (229) 244-1880. Orders placed before Oct. 16 will be discounted by $10.
