Lanier wreck fatality

LAKELAND — The Georgia State Patrol is continuing to investigate an early morning vehicle accident that claimed the life of one and injured three.

At approximately 3 a.m. Tuesday, a 2008 Ford F150 with four occupants was traveling on Studstill Road north of Lakeland when the vehicle ran off the road, struck a ditch and collided with a tree, according to Sgt. Carl Taylor with GSP.

Preliminary reports indicate that alcohol and the speed of the vehicle may have played a role in the incident, said Taylor.

Shannon McCullough, 18, of Lakeland was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Bryan Anderson of Woodbridge, Va., and two other passengers, Jessica Hansford, 28, of Stockton, Ga. and Stephen Sheb, 25, of Dunlop, Tenn., were injured and transported for medical treatment, but the extent of their injuries is not known, reports stated.

McCullough was seated behind Hansford in the rear right passenger seat at the time of the collision.

The Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team continues to investigate, and charges will likely be filled, said Taylor.
