The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has charged the suspect in a double homicide with murder and other counts after a mother and her 15-month-old child were discovered dead in Sparks Friday morning, according to authorities Monday.
Ashley “Bo” Justin Rutland, 31, of Lenox, is charged with two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated battery and one count of child molestation, said Sherry Lang, GBI’s director of public affairs.
Rutland was arrested on vehicle theft charges Friday after Francis Lisa Hall, 33, and Jersi Rayne Hall, 15 months, were both found dead in a home on Barneyville Road in Sparks. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI for assistance soon after the bodies were discovered.
Rutland remains in custody in Cook County Jail, and the case remains ongoing.
“We’re just looking for any other evidence,” Lang said. “Following up on leads.”
The GBI would not release the relationship of Rutland to the victims as of Monday afternoon.
