Approximately 110 airmen from the 822nd Base Defense Squadron, a unit within the 93d Air Ground Operations Wing, returned home to Moody this week after a six-month deployment to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. While deployed, the squadron patrolled 172 square miles, securing 36,000 people and $3.5 billion worth of assets. The unit also trained and mentored nine Afghan police districts and conducted more than 1,000 village engagements with village elders. The 93d AGOW conducts offensive and defensive ground combat operations to protect
expeditionary aerospace forces with an airborne capability.
