Police probe man’s death

‘Person of interest’ sought in case

VALDOSTA — The lifeless body of a 22-year-old male was discovered in the back of a house in the 200 block of Walnut Street Saturday night when police responded to the residence on reports of a prowler, according to authorities from the Valdosta Police Department.

Robert Pett, 22, was identified as the white male whom patrol officers discovered at the Walnut Street residence Saturday night, according to reports.

Details regarding Pett’s injuries remained undisclosed Monday evening as the investigation continued.

Detectives have developed a person of interest and have been following up on leads, according to reports.

An autopsy by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations was scheduled for Monday to determine cause of death, reports stated.

Valdosta Police Department detectives and criminal investigators from the Valdosta Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory gathered evidence and information from the scene, reports stated.

Authorities received the initial call on the case at approximately 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
