VALDOSTA — EDITOR’S NOTE: The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts is announcing its 2013-14 Presenter Series season of shows one at a time this season. There are three shows this year. On Sunday, July 28, the third show will be announced in The Times. The Valdosta Daily Times is a Presenter Series sponsor.

Reason Number One: They sing a collection of Broadway hits.

Reason Number Two: When they’re not touring the nation as part of the Broadway Boys, these singers represent Broadway shows such as “Wicked,” “Mary Poppins,” “Spiderman,” “Jersey Boys,” “Mamma Mia,” “The Book of Mormon,” “Hair,” “In the Heights,” “Memphis,” “Motown,” etc.

On Oct. 7, the Broadway Boys bring their “Lullaby of Broadway” tour to Valdosta as the opening show in the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts Presenter Series 2013-14 season.

The 2013-14 Presenter Series will feature three shows instead of the usual four, but they are big shows, especially the Nov. 14, 2013, production (which will be announced in The Times this Sunday, July 28), says Nancy Warren,  who has been booking professional acts and nationally touring shows for the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts Presenter Series for more than a decade.

This past Sunday, the arts center announced in The Times that the New Shanghai Circus will return on Feb. 14, 2014 to Valdosta.

Until Sept. 6, patrons can purchase a season ticket for all three shows for $100, Warren says. Buying each ticket individually, at $45 per show, the early season ticket represents a $35 savings, and a $25 savings from the cost of season tickets after Sept. 6.

“Imagine watching a show with unparalleled vocals and explosive energy,” the Presenter Series’ brochure proposes. “Imagine classic songs being completely reinvented. Imagine an evening full of show tunes presented with a contemporary flare.”

That’s the Broadway Boys.

The act sees its mission as introducing audiences across the United States to a “New Broadway.”

In addition to the Presenter Series sponsors, this show is made possible in part by a Georgia Presenters Block Grant from the Fox Theatre Institute.
