Moody plans memorial service

Tree dedication honors sergeant killed in Afghanistan

MOODY AFB — Moody's 823d Base Defense Squadron will hold a memorial service and tree dedication in honor of U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Todd J. Lobraico Jr. April 10 at 10:30 a.m.

Lobraico died Sept. 5, 2013, from wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with small-arms fire near Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan.  He was assigned to the 105th Security Forces Squadron out of Stewart Air National Guard Base, N.Y.

Though not based at Moody, the 105th SFS is considered a sister unit of the 820th Base Defense Group, and trains and deploys side-by-side with Moody airmen regularly. While in Afghanistan, Lobraico was deployed with Airmen from the 823d BDS.

Family members of Lobraico and 105th SFS Airmen will be present for the memorial service.
