WASHINGTON, D.C. —
Georgia Congressman Jack Kingston announced Thursday a Valwood student has received an appointment to a United States Service Academy.
Zachary Savino received a Competitive Nomination from Kingston and has been appointed to the Air Force Academy as a member of the class of 2017.
Zack is the son of Maria and Vincent Savino of Hahira. He is a senior at Valwood College Preparatory School.
“I commend Mr. Savino for not only his appointment but also for the hard work and dedication that he has expressed towards his country,” said Kingston. “I am confident that the leadership skills and education that you receive will prepare you for all future endeavors.”
All students were interviewed for Congressional Nominations into the Class of 2017 by Kingston and the Military Academy Board. Interviews were conducted at Bethesda Academy in Savannah.
Last month, Kingston announced several other students who received appointments. They included Michael L’Herault and Kasey Candelario, both of Valdosta.
L’Herault received a congressional nomination and was appointed to the Military Academy at West Point as a member of the class of 2017. He is the son of Diane and Mark L’Herault. Michael is a senior at Lowndes High School.
Candelario received a congressional nomination and was appointed to the Air Force Academy as a member of the class of 2017. He is the son of Elizabeth and Peter Candelario. Kasey is a freshman at Valdosta State University.
