Family Dollar on Bemiss robbed at gunpoint

VALDOSTA — Sheriff’s investigators are searching for a suspect in the Thursday morning robbery of a Family Dollar store.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., officers responded to the Family Dollar at 4626 Bemiss Road. Witnesses reported that a man with dreadlocks and wearing black pants and a red hoodie entered the store, claimed to have a gun, demanded money from the register and fled on foot.

Investigators, aided by a K9 unit, attempted to establish a track but were unable to locate the individual, according to Lt. Stryde Jones.

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the incident.
