VSU student stabbed on campus

VALDOSTA — A Valdosta State University student is in stable condition after being attacked Thursday night on campus.

At approximately 9:21 p.m., Antoine Bray, 19, was stabbed near Nevins Hall.  VSU campus police responded to the scene and requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Valdosta Police Department.

The campus police alerted students via text and email messages immediately following the incident.

Bray was flown to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla., where he is in stable condition and recovering from surgery, according to Valdosta State University spokesperson Thressea Boyd.

No suspects have been taken into custody, according to Steve Turner, GBI special agent in charge.

According to Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress, there is a memorandum of understanding between VSU and Valdosta police in which incidents of this nature are turned over to the GBI for investigation.
