ADEL — Adel police are on the lookout for two men who robbed a bank at gunpoint Thursday, stole a bank customer’s vehicle and escaped, according to authorities.

The burglary at the Trust Bank, at 607 W. 4th Street, took place just before 4 p.m., said Sgt. Jon Blake, chief investigator for the Adel Police Department.

Two men wearing Tyvek painter-type suits and with their faces covered entered the bank, and one of them had a handgun, Blake said. Aside from employees, the only other person in the bank was a customer, he said.

After robbing the bank, the pair stole the customer’s vehicle, Blake said.

The stolen vehicle was recovered a few blocks away on 5th Street, he said. Police had a portion of 5th Street blocked off late Thursday while a Cook County Sheriff’s Dept. K9 crew searched the area.

No one was harmed during the robbery, Blake said.

There have been no arrests yet in the case, and local authorities are working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, he said. Bank robbery is a federal crime.
