The Valdosta Daily Times
For several years, one of the world’s most hot button discussion topics has been global climate change. Valdosta High School’s debate team has taken notice of the world’s interest and has decided to use this topic during its coming debate.
The theme for the evening is “Global Climate Change: Profit Over People?” with the topic — “Resolved: Environmental protection should be prioritized over resource extraction when the two are in conflict.”
The debate will be panel formed.
Throughout the semester, students have been debating different aspects of environmental protection and economic development at debate tournaments around the state.
The debate will be open to the public and refreshments will be provided.
Organizers will accept donations for the debate team as part of the fundraiser for national tournament.
The debate is sponsored by Wiregrass Activist for Clean Energy.
The debate will be held 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 29, Hildegard’s, 101 E. Central Ave.
